We made some yummy stuff with the apples we got at the orchard, delicious and fun! Now it’s time to see what kind of nutritional damage we did with all that sugar. Here are the numbers for the apple dishes we made.
Three things to remember when looking at these numbers. One, apples contain natural vitamins like A, K, and C, as well as dietary fiber. Two, when you look at the sugar, you have to remember that half the number is from natural sugar. Why is that important? The Heart Association tells you to watch out for “added” sugars, but natural sugars are ok. Makes sense I guess, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” after all. Three, the apple pie does have 4 grams of saturated fat in it, but who gets to eat pie every day? Dave is happy to hear that I think a piece of pie once in a while is acceptable.
